About the project

Saint Vincent duPaul's Angels on Call program was designed to connect donors directly with individuals in need within the community. However, the administrative burden was becoming unwieldy due to growth, and the donation process was cumbersome and unintuitive. The organization sought a solution to simplify the process and enhance the user experience.

Our mission was to create a mobile application for SVdP's Angels on Call program, enabling donors to contribute to local families in need through seamless and user-friendly financial contributions.

Discovery

In the discovery phase, we engaged in a comprehensive exploration of the current program and user pathways:

User Pathways Audit

We conducted a thorough examination of existing user pathways within the Angels on Call program to gain a deep understanding of user interactions and pain points.

Stakeholder Interviews

Through interviews with the entire Angels on Call team, we gained insights into the program's internal processes, audience, and challenges, which helped shape our approach.

Technical Requirements

Detailed documentation of mobile app technical requirements was compiled, setting the stage for the subsequent design and development phases.

Planning and Workshops

In this phase, we strategically planned the app's design and functionalities:

Streamlined Donation Process

We collaborated with the client in several workshops to conceptualize an optimized donation process, determining which steps would be automated and which would involve the Angels on Call team.

User Flow Diagrams

Comprehensive user flow diagrams were created for key app activities, featuring annotations to guide the development team and ensure seamless execution.

Design and Delivery

This phase involved transforming concepts into tangible designs:

Wireframes

Detailed wireframes were crafted for each app page, incorporating user-centric elements like step process indicators, donation progress bars, and emotional appeals to encourage positive engagement.

Visual Design

A friendly, clean, and approachable look and feel that aligned with the brand standards was established. This design philosophy was applied across all wireframes.

App Store Assets

We developed captivating assets for Android and iPhone app stores, effectively conveying the app's capabilities and value propositions to potential users.

Development Handoff

The designs were meticulously handed over to the development team, equipped with fully annotated designs, comprehensive technical documentation, and assets optimized for app store promotion.

Outcome

The outcome of this project was a transformative mobile application that streamlined the Angels on Call program's donation process and enhanced the overall user experience. By effectively understanding user needs, aligning stakeholders' priorities, and applying user-centric design principles, we succeeded in creating an app that encourages community support while alleviating administrative burdens.
